Whenever you buy something big you need to give a deposit to show your good intentions, right? Maybe not.

I was asked about deposits when buying a business by a YouTube viewer recently and have a few ideas to share.

Some may get me in trouble with my business broker friends.

How expensive is the new matchup between big banks and Fintech? Watch..

If you watch business news you’ll see that so-called ‘Fintech’ companies are all the rage.

They make loans faster and easier because of ‘advanced algorithms’ which measure your creditworthiness by the number of likes your silly cat videos get on FarceBook.

Investors are pouring money into them and now big banks are teaming up with them to help small business owners finally get access to the money they need to grow their businesses.

But there’s a catch.  As you can well imagine.

Motivated and engaged employees can do wonders for the bottom line.

David Buys a Business for Passive Income- How to Buy a Business

So, If I was a business broker and I had all these sellers coming to see me, why didn’t I just buy some of the businesses and put managers in place so I could enjoy some passive income?

This week I’ve been asked why I was so foolish as to not take advantage of free money with no work.  Duh, I must have missed a lot of opportunities.

Seriously though, let’s examine this idea of being a passive investor who lets other people manage a small business for them.

Bonus: I’ll tell you the story of when I actually did pull off a deal like this and what the real-world results were.  Not so passive I’m afraid.
