The problem with Customers Loving the Seller.

The Terms can be more important than the price.

How much would you pay for a business if you were afraid that the customers wouldn’t like you?

This can be a problem in many small businesses where there is a relationship directly between the business owner and the important customers.

If an owner never invested the time to prepare, they may not be happy about the solution to getting a fair price for the business.

Watch and learn more.

When do I get more Goodwill?

Zafer is working hard, where is the Goodwill going?

Zafer emailed me to say that the business he bought is doing better, so why does the goodwill on his balance sheet keep going down?

Should it not be going up?

It all has to do with accounting rules and something called conservatism.

I explore that and also answer how the Goodwill got onto the balance sheet in this week’s video: https://youtu.be/Q6TQF1NZ58w

Buying a business with money FROM THE FUTURE (said in a mad-scientist voice)

Hey there,

This week I answer a question from a viewer about ways to pay for a business purchase based on the future performance of the business.

Sometimes called an earnout or a royalty.  These deals are for risky businesses and usually are a strategy for managing businesses with a lot of personal goodwill which may not transfer to a buyer.

How much is a business worth if the customers leave?  Let me show you what others have done to spread that risk back to the sellers.

If you’re a seller of this type of business, contact me to work on ways you can avoid having to accept an earnout offer.

Two weeks ago in Las Vegas, I spoke about business promissory notes from the point of view of an investor who may wish to buy one.

I made a bootleg recording and for the month of May only it is included as a special bonus in my online exit-planning course.  Enroll here: www.HowToSellMyOwnBusiness.com

Why you should be concerned about whether your goodwill is personal or not. -How to Buy/Sell a Business

What’s the difference between business goodwill, personal goodwill and the accounting term goodwill?

As a buyer of a business, you want to be sure the goodwill is going to stay with the business that you’re buying.

This week’s question comes from a viewer who bought a business and then lost a big customer because the goodwill didn’t transfer.  What does that mean?

As a business owner, why does it matter if you possess the goodwill or if your business does?  It can make a huge difference when it comes time to sell the business or you try to grow.

Listen in as I discuss the difference between business and personal goodwill and what things you can do to either transfer it or move it. Watch: https://youtu.be/DEQAE2DbEQU
